"I have a Dream" by Martin Luther King Jr. is one of the most prestigous speeches ever given in American history. Martin Luther King Jr. is a civil right's activist who fought for equal rights for African Americans. During the time of the civil right's movement African Americans were discriminated and not allowed equal privileges as White Americans. They were segregated in schools, they were not allowed to drink out of the same water fountain or even use the same restroom! On the bus they were forced to give up their seats to white people and they were looked down upon.
Martin Luther King Jr. fought for African Americans to be treated equally. But this made White people angry. He was assisinated at 6:01 p.m. on April 4, 1968. He was shot on his balcony. He fought for the rights of African Americans and suceeded. If it weren't for him, America wouldn't be a land of freedom.
